About Nailsea

We would like to introduce our latest McCarthy & Stone Retirement Living development located in the heart of Nailsea, a bustling town 10 miles south west of Bristol and close to the Severn Estuary. The development boasts 22 one bedroom apartments and 18 two bedroom apartments, fully equipped with everything you would expect from a contemporary apartment, plus exclusive touches to make life simpler such as mid-height wall switches, fully-tiled bathrooms and convenient waist height cooking facilities.

Each apartment at our development in Nailsea is finished to the high standard synonymous with all McCarthy & Stone developments and features a fitted kitchen and shower room, underfloor heating and a 24-hour emergency call system for ultimate comfort and peace of mind.

One of the great things about this development is the communal areas - homeowners are welcome to use any of the amenities, including the stylish Homeowners' Lounge, landscaped gardens and convenient laundry area. There is a House Manager on site at selected times during the day who is at the hub of the development answering questions and queries and working with homeowners to arrange social events in and out of the development.

This Retirement Living development is close to the town centre and all its amenities, with convenient access to Bristol and the motorway. A Lloyds bank, Post Office, pharmacy, two supermarkets and a hairdressers are all within 0.4 miles of the development. Immediately outside there is a bus stop and doctor's surgery. The town library and Scotch Horn Leisure Centre, which runs a range of fitness classes for all ages, are within walking distance, as are several neighbourhood restaurants and pubs. The 17th Century Ring O Bells is less than a mile away and has a great reputation for good home cooked food.

Local area

Nailsea has a long coal mining and glass history, which began as early as the 16th century. Glass manufacturer John Robert Lucas moved to Nailsea in 1788 and established the Nailsea Glassworks, which went on to become the fourth largest in the UK. The works closed in 1873, but 'Nailsea glass' is still highly sought after by collectors today.

Nailsea has several attractions both in the town and in the surrounding areas. You can visit the 15th century Nailsea Court and its beautiful gardens, or head out to the neighbouring village of Wraxall to the beautiful Victorian Gothic Tyntesfield House. The Moors around Nailsea are dedicated Sites of Special Scientific Interest and are perfect for walking.

The town puts on an annual carnival and encourages local residents to get involved. You can join a theatre or musical group, or just relax and take part in the beer and cider festival. The Mizzymead Recreation Centre and Social Club offers outdoor and indoor bowls, tennis, snooker, a skittle alley and Rotary Club. Bristol is just a train or bus ride away where you can enjoy the shops, museums, restaurants and other entertainment on offer.
