Local area
The town of Fleet is located in Hampshire and forms part of Hart district. Originally heathland, the town was most likely named after Fleet Pond, which at 52 acres is the largest freshwater lake in Hampshire.
This new Assisted Living retirement development is close to Fleet town centre where there is a good selection of shops and local amenities. Local buses provide access to the surrounding towns and villages, such as Church Crookham and Hartley Wintney amongst others. The town has a train station with regular services to London Waterloo taking less than an hour. The M3 motorway is close by, with a short 30 minute drive to the M25.
Local attractions and activities include the 18th century Basingstoke Canal which passes through Fleet and Dogmersfield and was originally built to connect Basingstoke to the River Thames, and The Vyne, a 16th century country house outside Sherborne St John which is now owned by the National Trust. In addition, Fleet Pond Local Nature Reserve is one a notable Hampshire beauty spot, and designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
