Wrexham lures new homes buyers in North Wales

Posted 13 February 2014

House buyers in North Wales looking for a lively place to live need look no further than Wrexham, the region's largest town. With a population of 42,576, Wrexham has a good choice of high street shops, bars and restaurants coupled with excellent parking and leisure facilities, as well as good road links.

Commuters enjoy easy access to the M53, M56 and M6, with routes to major cities across the North West, including Liverpool and Manchester. And for leisure time there's regular horse racing at Bangor-On-Dee; rambling and mountain biking opportunities at Coed Llandegla Forest; football at Wrexham FC; and plenty of opportunities for golfing and other sports.

House buyers in North Wales currently have a good selection of new developments to look at in Wrexham - many of which are within a couple of miles of the town centre.

Morris, one of the country's largest privately-owned housebuilders, has created St Giles Gardens within walking distance of Wrexham's town centre and the Technology Park, offering a range of quality three- and four-bedroom homes priced from £169,750. The homes are situated in a very handy location just minutes from the A483 Chester to Wrexham road, and offer traditional exteriors combined with contemporary interiors and low-maintenance designs for easy modern living.

Just a couple of miles from the centre of Wrexham, close to several schools, medical centres and other local amenities, Anwyl has just a few homes now remaining at its Ty Newydd development. These include three-bedroom properties priced from £139,950, with a number of purchase incentive schemes available on selected plots - including the housebuilder's own 'Helping Hand Scheme' for first-time buyers.

Also just a couple of miles from the town centre, Bloor Homes has a collection of three-, four- and five-bedroom homes at Gatewen Village, set in the heart of the scenic North Wales Borderlands countryside. Despite the development's quiet, rural setting, it takes less than ten minutes to drive to the centre of Wrexham. Home of the Week is ‘The Allbrook', a four-bedroom detached family home with two en suite shower rooms, priced at £239,995 including carpets, curtains, light fittings and a turfed rear garden.

SG Estates has a small collection of just 13 three- and four-bedroom detached homes at Queen's Court in the semi-rural village of Bradley, just under three miles from the heart of Wrexham (prices on enquiry). Incorporating a public open space, and with a children's play area planned for just outside of the development, Queen's Court is close to all the village amenities including small shops, a larger shopping centre, a cricket ground, and a brand new bowling green. There are good transport links to the A483 and the motorway network, while there is a bus shop just next to the site and a train station ten minutes' walk away.

Coming soon to Wrexham...

For house-hunters who are in no rush to buy immediately, another central Wrexham development to look out for in the near future (subject to planning permission) is The Sidings from Gower Homes. This development will offer a total of 49 one-, two- and three-bedroom homes set in the established residential area of Stansty, a 15-minute walk from the town centre, and just around the corner from a supermarket, Glyndwr University and several schools.
