Catering to the needs of ever growing and diverse family life, Bellway is proud to launch a new five-bedroom show home at its Mascalls Park development in Brentwood.

The 'Chartwell' is a grand five-bedroom home that features all the necessities that may be required by a larger family including two en suite bathrooms, as well as a communal family bathroom, an open plan kitchen and family area, a separate utility room and both the living and dining room benefit from French doors into the garden.

WhatHouse? spoke to Susan White, managing director at Phoenix Interior Design, designers of the show home at Mascalls Park, to find out more about the beautiful interiors:

“We decided to use a consistent colour scheme throughout the whole home. Opting for a selection of greys, lapis and raspberry – these colours were chosen to create an elegant theme, and running them through the entire home gives a classic and timeless feel.”

“We created zones throughout to give a more realistic family living environment, for members to enjoy both individually and together as a group. The ground floor is where the family come together for meal times and relax in front of the TV, the first floor is Mum and Dad’s private space to enjoy and relax in, while the second floor is for the children to enjoy and hopefully not make too much noise in!”

The living room has high ceilings which create a lot of space, which we wanted to make full use of. The natural light fills the room through full height bay windows, so we wanted to maximise this by creating a useable space within it, using statement armchairs. The minimalistic fireplace really stood out to us, so we have chosen mellow, taupe shades on the surrounding walls to emphasise its impact. The coffee table is a great piece that breaks up the room and fits perfectly with the other furniture in the room.

Our aim for the dining room was to create an elegant and versatile entertaining space. We wanted to make most of the space in the room by creating an area separate to the main table that could be used as a buffet serving area. The chrome detail on the sideboard is one of our favourite features of the room and paired with the chandelier, really gives a sophisticated feel, making the room ideal for both family meals and special occasion dinner parties.Chartwell's dining room
The kitchen/family area is the official hub of the home. We wanted to take advantage of the versatile space and create an area that could be used for multiple occasions. We love the informality of the breakfast/lunch area, creating a relaxed space for the family to enjoy a meal together at any time of the day. The cocktail unit provides a space in which adults can enjoy a gin and tonic in the evenings or on weekends with friends or relatives. The Matthew Williamson silk pelmet fabric used for the curtains is stunning and fits with the calming neutral theme of the room.Chartwell's kitchen
The master bedroom is another room in the house in which we wanted to accentuate the fantastic double height ceilings. We used two chandeliers as a focal point to emphasise this feature and to add an extra chic touch. We wanted to create a very relaxed and calming environment for the adults to enjoy. The impressive four poster bed is complimented with an end of bed sofa to enjoy the views from the window. Another corner love seat was used to utilise the great space in the room and provide an additional area for relaxing. The lapis Zinc cushions have been used to add the perfect splash of colour and to continue with the sophisticated tone of the room.Chartwell master bedroom
