The four-bedroom Chestnut show home has played an important part in the success of Lovell Homes’ popular Lavender Grove development in Farmborough, north-east Somerset.

This impressive home is now up for sale, fully furnished with an impressive range of extras, giving a buyer the chance to move into a picture-perfect property in an idyllic West Country village which is also within easy reach of Bath and Bristol.

Claire Gillard, director at Bridgend-based interiors specialists Sunrise Interiors, reveals the creative process behind the design:

“Our overriding aim when it comes to designing a show home interior is to enhance what the home has to offer, but not to overwhelm it. The brief from Lovell Homes was to create an atmosphere that was homely and welcoming but which would also have strong impact."

The main inspiration came from the location in the gorgeous Somerset countryside,” says Claire. “I was looking at a flower border in the sun full of lavender and fresh green and that inspired the summery colour palette. We’ve used lavender tones, of course, complementing them with fresh greens and creams. It says ‘country’ but it’s sophisticated too, giving an overall effect of understated elegance." “In the kitchen we’ve gone for a rustic carved wooden chairs and table set in a fresh cream. It’s a lovely family home and we wanted to create a personal, eclectic look using individual pieces which work well together, giving an impression of a collection which has been assembled with care over time.”

"In the living room, the pieces have more of an antique feel with a mix of different woods; we’ve also made the most of the very generous space with dramatic large feature mirrors. In the dining room we’ve created a much more opulent impression with a crystal chandelier and damask wallpaper."

“In the fun child’s room, we’ve used quirky animal-patterned Osborne and Little Menagerie wallpaper from a Quentin Blake design – again, giving a soft ‘country’ feel.”
