WhatHouse? takes a look at this beautiful four-bedroom home in Rugby and discovers the inspiration behind the design details...

The recent launch of the striking Magnolia show home at Bellway's Fernwood development in Rugby has given potential buyers the perfect opportunity to explore the luxurious home and discover some style inspiration while they do so.

Situated in Cawston to the south-west of Rugby, Fernwood offers the perfect blend of countryside living with all the benefits of a popular town centre nearby.

Andy Richardson, MD of design company Edward Thomas Interiors says: "We've created an opulent, relaxing atmosphere inside the Magnolia show home using an eclectic mixture of striking accessories, furniture and soft furnishings.

"Our design brief was to create an atmosphere that a stylish family or couple would feel instantly at home in, and we feel we've hit the nail on the head with our scheme incorporating a contemporary mixture of royal blue and pale gold. It's a fashionable colour pairing, but is also timeless so will appeal to a wide range of visitors.”

Living room: The talking point of the vibrant living room is undoubtedly the geometric wallpaper which takes centre stage surrounding the fireplace. The royal blue of the wallpaper, chair and lampshade are perfectly offset by the antique gold of the mirror and the cushions, creating a contemporary, chic scheme. Soft fabrics, striking accessories and an eclectic yet restful colour scheme all combine to create an atmosphere of tranquility and homeliness – perfect for anyone's living room.

Dining room: The real statement of the dining room is on the walls – a stunning royal blue and white striped wallpaper which creates the perfect backdrop for carefully sourced accessories. The natural wood of the table and chairs creates a rustic golden counterbalance to the strong blue on the walls and curtains, and the warm colour of the wood is echoed in the unusual light fitting which hangs over the table. A beautifully dressed dining table is a welcoming sight for anyone, and a pretty bunch of flowers is the perfect centrepiece.Dining room

Kitchen: The kitchen is the heart of the home, so we have ensured that we create a restful, welcoming scheme that any family or couple could feel instantly at home in. This is the place for calm colours and we have created that with neutrals on the tiled floor, worktops and cabinets. Unusual accessories like the Morroccan-inspired light fitting add interest, and a rustic table and chairs offer the perfect place to have breakfast together as a family while looking out at the garden.

Master bedroom: We have seen flashes of golden yellow throughout the house, but the master bedroom is where the colour really comes into its own. The warm tones of the feature wallpaper behind the bed are both welcoming and relaxing, particularly when paired with the warm grey of the headboard and throw on the bed. The feeling of comfort is magnified by the soft, tactile fabrics on the bed and curtains – the perfect place to relax and enjoy a good book or a lie in.

Bathroom: Of all the rooms in the house, a bathroom should be the most relaxing – and the en-suite in the show home is certainly that. The thin horizontal tiles in the shower are reminiscent of a Nordic spa, and the high-quality bright white fittings offer all the comfort you could possibly want from a bathroom. Subtle flashes of golden yellow tie the bathroom in with the harmonious scheme of the whole house without being overpowering. White towels are fresh and clean – perfect for a relaxing bathroom.
