Perfect for commuters - the best new builds available in Farnborough

The first powered flight in Britain was at Farnborough in 1908 by Samuel Cody. A high number of blue chip companies are based nearby including Nokia and Siemens boosting the average local income to £41,000.

The town is perfectly located for the London commuter with various routes into west and central London. Farnborough Main station offers services direct to London Waterloo (38 mins) with trains departing every 15 mins during peak hours. 

For shopping Princes Mead has 35 stores all on one level under its glass roof, with nine other stores just outside in The Mead.  Supermarkets include an Asda Superstore and Sainsburys. Adjacent to Princes Mead is the open air precinct Queensmead and The Meads shopping centre, which houses Debenhams and a Vue multiplex cinema, and Prezzo. There is a weekly market in Queensmead held on Tuesdays and Sundays. The Blackwater Shopping Park is just outside the town. There is a range of cafés, chain eateries and restaurants serving Asian, Italian and British cuisine. The Aviator Brasserie in Farnborough is a popular restaurant.

There are two golf clubs the North Hants Golf Club and the Southwood Golf Club. The Farnborough Leisure Centre  is home to a gym, pool, tenpin bowling, squash courts, a health suite and sports clubs. The Hawley Lake Sail Training Centre is affiliated with the Royal Yachting Association and the Army Sailing Association. There are courses and training for sailing, canoeing/kayaking, power boating and wind surfing.

Farnborough has 14 outstanding rated schools by Ofsted. There are several choices of primary and secondary schools. Pinewood Infant school, Gange Community Junior School and Guillemont Junior school are among the most popular. Hawley Place School is independent for students three to 16-years-of-age. There is a Sixth Form College and the University of Reading is only a little over half-an-hour’s drive away.

A monthly season ticket to London costs £354.50 from Farnborough (£3,692 annually) with the fastest journey time of 38 minutes. Trains to (Basingstoke) take 13 minutes (£139.10 monthly, £1,448 annually); Guildford takes 17 minutes (£110 monthly, £1,148 annually); Reading takes 27 minutes (£165.60 monthly, £1,724 annually).

Season ticket prices may not always include cross London or Underground travel.

Farnborough is well served for motorway access to the M3 into London, connecting with the M25 and M4 and to Southampton and Reading about 20 miles away, while Basingstoke takes about 20 minutes.
