North West new homes round-up – the best new builds for sale right now

Manchester remains at the heart of the government’s oft-mentioned Northern Powerhouse scheme to re-distribute some of the nation’s wealth away of London and the South East, and the city’s property market continues to see a great deal of new development schemes proposed.

Glenbrook has submitted plans for 232 apartments for a private rented sector (PRS) scheme on the site of the former Shepherd Gilmour offices on Ellesmere Street, while a major scheme for four towers, together providing 1,400 new homes, has been put forward for a site on Owen Street. These would range from 38 to 64 storeys, the tallest dwarfing the Beetham Tower, currently Manchester’s tallest building, by some 17 storeys.

Planning permission has been granted for the development of the former Origin 238 apartments and a 148-bed hotel at Whitworth Street and Princess Street. TH Real Estate has submitted a proposal for the redevelopment of Waterfront Quays to transform an uninspiring low-rise office development into an 800-home residential quarter.
