Housebuilders around the country have a host of offers, launches and events going to attract buyers to their sites this week, and we look at our pick of them in detail here…

New loft homes go on sale in Manchester this weekend

There’s an open-invitation event taking place from 10.00am this Saturday 15 July in Manchester’s East Village for owner-occupier buyers to see details of Crusader, a new textile mill conversion development that will offer 20 loft apartments for people who want to live in this historic quarter of the city – not to buy-to-let investors.

Those attending the event, hosted by developer Capital&Centric, will be able to see what is planned for the properties using virtual reality headsets, and reserve their plot for a £500 reservation fee. There is a choice of one- and two-bedroom properties in this first release, all featuring high-ceilings, original brickwork and plenty of natural light, with prices starting at £165,000.

The Crusader building dates from around 1830 and is located next to Piccadilly station, making it ideal for those who need convenient links in and out of the city.

Adam Higgins of Capital&Centric says: “We’re the custodians of Crusader and we owe it to Manchester to create something special. We know people want to own their piece of Manchester history and that they want spaces that will make their mates bloody jealous.   Crusader will deliver this by the bucket-load. Every brick, every pipe, every stairwell echoes the centuries of industrial graft the mill has witnessed. The building belongs to Manchester, therefore it’s only right that the people who want to make this city their home get first dibs.”

Thousands of pounds to save for a buyer in Telford

The OaklandsHomebuyers in Telford are being offered a treat by Lovell Homes this summer at its The Oaklands development, with the housebuilder tempting them with £1,000 paid towards their legal fees, plus flooring throughout their home, if they buy plot 88 at the scheme.

The offer amounts to a saving of around £3,000 in all on the three-bedroom semi-detached ‘Westwood’ style home, which comes with a single garage. It has an open market price of £164,950, or £131,960 up-front with the Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme, where only a 5% deposit of £8,248 is required. With an en suite and built-in wardrobes in the master bedroom and spacious rooms throughout, it’s an excellent option for first-time buyers or growing families.

Michelle Barnsley, field sales manager at Lovell Homes, says: “There has been a lot of interest from families since The Oaklands opened recently. The houses are ideal for expanding families, with the convenience of three bedrooms and fitted appliances included in the kitchen. The development is also close to various primary schools. Any prospective homebuyers who are interested in plot 88 at The Oaklands are advised to enquire as quickly as possible, as it is likely to sell fast.”

A new show home in Livingston from Barratt

WhatHouse? Award-winning Barratt Homes is enticing house-hunters to its Buchanan Gardens development in Livingston, West Lothian, with a brand new show home.

The site, located next to the village centre, was launched earlier this year but this ‘Craigievar’ show house is the first opportunity for homebuyers to experience the build quality and layout first-hand, and to gain inspiration from the decoration, furniture and accessories provided by professional interior designers Blocc.

Anne Ross, sales director for Barratt Homes East Scotland, says: “Barratt Homes’ properties in Livingston offer incredible value for money, especially when compared to homes in central Edinburgh, with more indoor space and the advantages of a garden for little ones to enjoy. Each home comes with a ten-year NHBC warranty, properties are energy efficient which means lower bills, and there are no repair or upgrades to make when moving in, meaning purchasers can enjoy their new homes from day one.”

Local house-hunters attracted to Broughton development

D'Urton HeightsHousebuilder Charles Church Developments is seeing a healthy audience of local house-hunters coming to its D’Urton Heights scheme in Broughton, Lancashire, since its launch in June 2017.

With a huge range of homes – from two-bedroom starter properties to six-bedroom family houses – the development has plenty to offer homebuyers, whatever their budget and requirements, with an advantage to some if they are able to purchase off-plan, before construction is started.

Diane Finch, sales and marketing director for Charles Church Lancashire, says: “We knew this would be a popular location, as there was a lot of interest before we even launched the development. Broughton is a lovely village, close to all of Preston’s amenities but still keeping that rural feeling that people want. Buying a property off-plan, before a single brick has even been laid, can be a great way to secure your dream home at a better price. And depending on the build stage you can also tailor the house to your own tastes.”

Prices at the site –  just four miles north of Preston city centre -  currently start at £254,995, with Help to Buy available and requiring just a 5% deposit. Buyers moving up from a currently owned home can also discuss Home Change and Part Exchange schemes with the Charles Church team.

Redrow promotes working from home from Hertfordshire scheme

Redrow Homes is encouraging homebuyers in Hertfordshire to consider the space and specification of its properties at The Maples in Buntingford, where a home study can provide the perfect environment from which to operate.

Kerry McCoubrey, sales director for Redrow Homes (Eastern), explains: “Flexible working patterns and the increased ability to spend at least part of the working week at home make it easier to balance work and family life. As people spend more time telecommuting than physically commuting they start to think more about the part of the home they’re working in. The properties in our Heritage Collection…have been well thought-out to meet the demands of modern life, including the ability to work from home with a study included in several designs.”

The Maples offers a range of detached houses with four or five bedrooms – any of which can be converted into a dedicated home office – priced from £599,995.

McCoubrey adds: “It can help keep regular working hours so that you keep to ‘office hours’ at home. There’s no need to pack and unpack each day as you have a dedicated work space. Plus the children will know that while mum or dad are in the study it’s the equivalent to them being ‘at work’ and they shouldn’t be disturbed.”

The show home at The Maples is open Thursday to Monday, from 10.00am to 5.30pm.

Sales centre for 86 new homes in Colchester launches this weekend

King George's ParkHills Residential has started work on King George’s Park, its new development of 86 homes at Rowhedge Wharf in Colchester, Essex.

The new scheme will offer a range of two-, three- and four-bedroom properties following the granting of planning permission in summer 2016. In addition to the properties, the developer will also contribute £836,000 to benefit the local community through Colchester Borough Council.

Jonathan Hills, managing director of Hills Residential, says: “We have been working hard on King George’s Park for some time and are exceptionally proud of the development. Work has started and we look forward to welcoming house-hunters to view our superb show home in the very near future.”

While the new show home isn’t expected to open until the end of this year, early-bird purchasers who have bought off-plan are expected to move into the first completed homes at about the same time. In the mean time, a sales centre is opening at the development this Saturday 15 July.
