While house buyers can usually hope to pick up a bargain in August, which is traditionally a quiet month, this summer appears to have bucked the trend: The Times reports that figures show a decrease across the UK of just 0.8%, “compared with an average August fall after the credit crunch of 1.5%”. And experts say discounts are reduced because the demand is so high – helped by rock bottom mortgage rates – while the number of properties coming to market has dropped.
Data varies from region to region, however – and there is better news for buyers in the South East where prices fell from July to August by 1.2%.
For those searching for a brand new home, we have put together a selection of new housing developments in the South East of England to suit a range of different pockets.
