New homes round up - the best new developments in and around Bradford
The changing city of Bradford has the youngest, fastest-growing population outside of London, and recent Ofsted reports rank many of its schools as amongst the UK's finest – giving it plenty of appeal for house buyers with young families.
Significant regeneration work in and around the city make Bradford even more attractive to buyers, while the beautiful Pennines and Yorkshire Dales are on its doorstep for family days out. Several house builders currently have new family homes for sale in various parts of the city and the surrounding area, catering for first time buyers upwards – many with purchase assistance schemes available.
On the southern fringes of the city, for example, Persimmon Homes has created Blossom Meadows in Woodside, which includes a selection of two-, three- and four-bedroom houses. Priced from £109,950 with Help to Buy, there are also a variety of other purchase assistance schemes available, including 95% Government-backed mortgages with NewBuy, and 100% Part Exchange, where Persimmon purchases the buyer's old home for its full market value. The Morley is a two-bedroom mid-terrace house with a total purchase price of £109,950, made up of a deposit of £5,498, a mortgage of £82,463, and a Government-backed equity loan of £21,990. In addition, Persimmon Homes will provide free carpets throughout and fully-paid stamp duty.
Just three miles south of Bradford, Burnham Walk is a development from Gleeson Homes offering spacious two-, three- and four-bedroom family homes with generously-sized gardens and driveways. Located in Bierley, close to the M606, the development is ideal for families as it has good primary and secondary schools nearby. The area has local shops and a large supermarket nearby; it is well-connected by public transport, with frequent bus services into and across Bradford; and just a short stroll away there are peaceful woodland walks and pleasant parkland. The Tyrone is a three-bedroom semi-detached home priced from £114,995 (or £91,996 with Help to Buy), including carpets, curtains, light fittings and turf to the rear garden.
Situated between the town of Shipley and the city of Bradford, Taylor Wimpey's Crest Park (pictured) has a new phase of family homes now available, priced from £174,995 - £264,995. Current offers include The Ashdale, a two-bedroom starter home now reduced to £99,995, while there are also three- and four-bedroom properties suitable for larger families. All the homes at this development come complete with kitchens, appliances, carpets, light fittings, turf and fencing, so they are ready for families to move into. For commuters the local Frizinghall railway station offers excellent links to Leeds and Bradford, while on the edge of Bradrford city centre both the M62 and M1 are easily accessible.
There are also offers available at Miller Homes' Flaxton Court, which is in a peaceful spot between Leeds and Bradford, incorporating a range of house types including contemporary starter homes and larger family homes. The area has a strong community feel and plenty of local amenities, while the wider commuter network is only a short drive away. Options for families include The Golding, a four-bedroom semi-detached house with carport, priced from £199,995; or The Buchan Alt, a four-bedroom detached property with parking space also priced from £199,950. The Help to Buy scheme, which offers a Government-backed equity loan, is available at Flaxton Court, as is Miller's Home Exchange programme.
