New homes in Chelmsford could be a target in City bonus season

Posted 15 January 2016 by Keith Osborne

The county town of Essex has great amenities and transport links, so it's a prime target for some of the City's high-flyers as they prepare for their annual bonuses...

With a commute of just 35 minutes on frequent, fast trains, Chelmsford has long been a convenient home for City workers and demand for property there is strong, with prices rising around 10% in the last year alone.

As the bonus season approaches for workers in the big financial institutions of the Square Mile, Bellway is confident that its new homes in the north of the city will catch the eye of cash-rich commuters. Just 10 minutes’ drive from Chelmsford station, the new homes at Eagle Rise @ Channels start at £419,995, with a choice of three-, four- and five-bedroom properties to suit single buyers, couples and families.

Divisional sales manager for Bellway Essex, Gemma Bannister, says: “Property is a great way to invest, especially in cities like Chelmsford, which has seen such growth in recent years. City workers looking for an exciting and secure opportunity to invest their bonuses are encouraged to look at the new homes here.”

One of the properties for sale at Eagle Rise is the three-bedroom ‘Addington’ (pictured). There’s a spacious living area, while the open-plan kitchen/dining area to the rear of the property is ideal for entertaining the family (or the boss). Upstairs, the master bedroom has an en suite shower room, fitted wardrobes and a private balcony. The two other bedrooms have access to a family bathroom.

Throughout, there’s an attractive, high-quality specification, from the fitted kitchens, with their contemporary units and integrated appliances, to Roca bathrooms and stylish ceramic tiling.

Aside from its fast trains to London, Chelmsford is also convenient for rail access to Colchester (as little as 20 minutes away), Ipswich (40 minutes) and Norwich (less than 90 minutes). The Channels development is well located for access to the A12, just eight minutes’ drive away, with links to the A120 for Stansted Airport and the M25.

Granted city status by HM the Queen in her Diamond Jubilee year, Chelmsford has an impressive range of retail and leisure options as well as a host of amenities. There are two shopping centres, Meadows and High Chelmer, streets of boutique and national-brand shops and a regular market, and a number of farmers’ markets are also held in the area. For entertainment, there’s a cinema, two theatres and numerous pubs, restaurants and music venues.

Schooling is a particular strength in Chelmsford. There are a number of well-regarded schools within easy reach of Eagle Rise, with Little Waltham CE Primary School and Great Waltham CE Primary in the neighbouring village and, for older students, two of the UK’s best-performing secondary schools, King Edward VI Grammar and Chelmsford County High School for Girls.

Prices at Eagle Rise @ Channels start from £419,995 for a three-bedroom home, £524,995 for a four-bedroom home, and £624,995 for a five-bedroom home.
