Impressive choice of new homes within five miles of Telford

Posted 8 August 2013

Fast-growing Telford in Shropshire is a modern town that is home to many hi-tech companies; the Telford International Centre, which is the sixth largest exhibition centre in the UK; and a superb road and rail infrastructure.

The M54 connects the town to the West Midlands conurbation, with Birmingham just over 30 miles away. Telford itself has plenty of schools and high street shops, plus attractions such as Telford Town Park, an ice rink, Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom, Telford Steam Railway, a ski centre, a multi-screen cinema, and the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ironbridge Gorge.

Less than a mile north-east of the centre, Priorsleap is a landscaped development of two-, three- and four-bedroom properties from Bromford Homes. Surrounded by picturesque Shropshire countryside, yet just half an hour's drive from Birmingham, the homes are priced from £152,995 and incorporate many extra features as standard. Nearby there are two well-regarded primary schools, a good range of local shops, a pharmacy and a medical centre. For leisure time, Priorslee Lake is home to a whole host of lovely walks, watersports and both fishing and wildlife-watching opportunities.

About three miles north of Telford town centre, Trenchwood Gardens is a Redrow development from £139,995 offering a selection of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes from the house builder's New Heritage Collection, which blends traditional architectural features with designs for convenient, modern family living.

In the village of Lawley, two miles from Telford, several developers are busy building new homes as part of the Lawley Developer Group, which will ultimately create a community of 3,500 new homes in the area to meet increasing demand. Lawley village centre packs in all the amenities needed for day-to-day living, with plenty of schools nearby. Just a short drive away is the Telford Snowboard and Ski Centre, while Telford town centre provides a wider choice of shops and facilities.

Barratt Homes' Woodland View is part of this new community, featuring 147 new homes in a variety of house designs, including one-bedroom apartments and two-, three- and four-bedroom houses priced from £143,500. The government-backed NewBuy scheme, enabling purchasers to secure a new home with a deposit of just 5%, is available at Woodland View - as is part exchange for those with an existing property to sell.

A couple of miles down the road, also forming part of the new Lawley development, David Wilson Homes' Webbs Meadow incorporates stylish three- and four-bedroom detached and semi-detached family homes priced from £161,000. The properties are designed to maximise natural light, and many have their own balcony or roof terrace with great views, while Telford's centre is less than three miles away.

For a bit more individuality, buyers could take a look at Barratt's Clover Mead, also in Lawley Village, offering a selection of three- and five-bedroom houses with striking designs priced from £175,950 upwards.

Buyers who would rather be part of a smaller, quieter community could look at Falcons Rest in the rural village of Doseley: a stylish development of luxury apartments and houses from David Wilson Homes, priced from £92,000. The large apartments are ideal for first-time buyers and investors, while three- to five-bedroom homes are available for growing families. There are excellent primary schools and three secondary schools close by, as well as a local medical practice, and Telford itself is less than three miles away.
