A young couple welcomed their first baby into the world just weeks after moving into their first home together at Barratt Homes’ Mercury Place in Wolverhampton.

Jen Smith and Luke Bourne, both 22, bought their two bedroom Ashford style home after noticing building work had started on the new development, which is just five minutes from Jen’s parents’ home, where she had been living before.

The couple used the Government’s Help to Buy scheme to purchase their first home, and after moving in at the end of the summer, baby Jack was born in early Autumn.

“The house is just the right size for the three of us,” said health and safety administrator and new mum Jen, from Wolverhampton, “with enough space for all our things and a big garden for Jack to play in when he’s older. There’s also enough room to entertain, and we’ve already had a few friends over.”

“The sales advisers for Barratt were very helpful,” said Production Operative and new dad Luke, also from Wolverhampton, “and they made the Help to Buy scheme really simple for us to use. The team rang us every Friday with updates on how our new home was coming on, which was very considerate.”

Because Jen and Luke bought their home while it was still being built, they had the opportunity to customise it to their tastes, using Barratt’s Options range. “We picked the kitchen worktops, cupboards and tiles ourselves,” said Jen, “and on the day we got the keys they even helped us with our new carpets. The service was perfect!”

Graydon Worthing, Sales Director at Barratt Homes West Midlands, said, “It’s always good to welcome first–time-buyers to our new developments, and even better when they become first-time-parents soon after.”

Homebuyers looking for great new homes in Wolverhampton, with easy access to transport links, shopping facilities and a bustling nightlife, should consider Barratt Homes’ new development at Mercury Place on Mercury Drive.

The mix of two, three and four quality bedroom homes currently available at Mercury Place are priced from £136,950 to £235,950 and the Sales Centre is open Monday 12:30pm - 5:30pm and Thursday to Sunday 10am - 5:30pm.
