Wedding bells for couple in first home at Kensington Park

Posted 9 December 2016 by Ben Salisbury

Jay Leary welcomed his girlfriend Olivia Tarpey into their new Taylor Wimpey home at Kensington Park for the first time by asking her to marry him...

Homebuilder Taylor Wimpey recently helped Kensington Park resident, Jay Leary, give his girlfriend Olivia Tarpey a truly unforgettable welcome to their first home, by making it the backdrop for his wedding proposal.

Local electrician Jay, 23, decided against a traditional proposal, choosing instead to get down on one knee in the kitchen of their three-bedroom 'Gosford' style property as Olivia, 22, walked into their new home for the first time.

Jay explains: “I didn’t want it to be boring and ordinary, I wanted it to be something she would always remember.

“I thought, this is the first home we’ve ever owned together and the beginning of a new chapter for both of us, so it felt like the perfect opportunity to make it extra special.”

The Kensington Park team were only too happy to be on hand to help Jay put his plan into action. On the day they were going to pick up the keys, sales executive, Tracy, helped Jay lock himself inside the property. He then rang Olivia and told her that he had been held up with work and she would have to collect the keys alone.

Olivia walked up the path to the house where she unlocked the front door to find Jay waiting with his big question.

The couple, who have been together for a year, are planning a long engagement to give themselves time to settle into their new home.

The three-bedroom 'Gosford' is the perfect property for small families and professional couples alike, with three spacious bedrooms including a luxurious en-suite master bedroom, modern family bathroom, a light and airy kitchen and dining space with French doors leading onto a private garden, and a stylish lounge.

Jay adds: “We are extremely happy with the house. Whenever people come to visit they just can’t believe how much space we’ve got for our money. It’s fantastic.”

Anne Bagshaw, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire, comments: “Oh behalf of everyone at Taylor Wimpey I would like to wish Jay and Olivia every happiness. Our homes are perfect place to start the next stage of your life, and we are so pleased that we could play a part in helping this young couple start theirs.”

Jay adds: “We would like to say a big thank you to Taylor Wimpey for all of their help, and for making the overall move so easy and seamless.”
