The Woodchester, Cheltenham - Show Home Room by Room

Posted 11 January 2017 by Ben Salisbury

The Woodchester is a new show home from Bloor Homes which showcases the superior family homes at Bloor's new Prestbury Chase development in Cheltenham

The doors have opened at a brand new showhome on the north-east fringe of the Regency town of Cheltenham, with an opulent interior inspired by the fabrics, patterns and colours of a quirky boutique Cotswold hotel.

Bloor Homes’ Prestbury Chase development is home to the new four-bedroom Woodchester, which is designed to showcase to visitors what life at the development could be like. The interior of the property has been created to merge the warmth and comfort of traditional Cotswold design with a modern and family-friendly layout. A typical plot at Prestbury Chase features a superior four-bedroom detached family home, close to Cheltenham city centre but still in a countryside location.

The ground floor of the homes offers an open-plan kitchen-dining area, complete with granite worktops, a set of French doors leading to the rear garden and plenty of space to entertain or catch up with the family whilst you cook.

There is also an extended family area providing a comfortable area to relax in whilst keeping an eye on the dinner. With the addition of the family area, parents can make the bright and spacious lounge their own sanctuary. A home office and innovative utility area complete this floor.

The first floor has a family bathroom and four double bedrooms. Two of the double bedrooms have en suite facilities. The master bedroom includes a large walk-in wardrobe and a balcony. Outside there is a driveway and a garage with an electric garage door.

Carrie Edwards from Claude Hooper Design has given WhatHouse? exclusive comments on the inspiration and themes behind four of the rooms in the Woodchester show home.

She said: “We wanted to give visitors a sense of luxury and opulence, so chose a rich, warm palette for the interior of the Woodchester."

Woodchester Prestbury Living roomLiving room: “A deep mustard shade on the sofas and cushions in the living room creates an immediate feeling of grandeur and gives the room a very grown-up feel. Paired with the grey on the wallpaper, curtains and furnishings, the scheme has a warm and welcoming ambience, with every element flowing and complementing all other aspects – perfect for relaxing or spending time with the family. The subtle paisley-pattern on the wallpaper combines the grey of the textiles and the beige of the wood in the room, bringing the whole scheme together beautifully.”

Woodchester Prestbury Kitchen dining roomKitchen-dining room: "Scottish and Scandinavian designs have been combined in the kitchen-dining room to great effect. The check of the curtains and the deep plum cushions recall Highland design, while the light wood and pale units personify modern Scandinavia. A faux fur throw on the deep chair is inviting and adds just another touch of luxury, while the stylish, practical kitchen units and appliances are ideal for busy, modern family life.”

Woodchester Prestbury Child bedroomChildren’s bedroom: “The showhome is in Cheltenham which is famous for its Regency architecture, so we took beautiful local buildings as inspiration for the children’s bedroom upstairs. The fabulous mural of townhouses behind the bed is the feature of the room and brings the outside in for the children. Soft pink bedspreads are welcoming and restful teamed with the light grey on the walls – even energetic little ones need a space to relax at the end of the day!”

Woodchester Prestbury Second bedroomSecond bedroom: “Sophisticated and Spicy colours are set to be a big trend in 2017, and we have used deep brick red wallpaper in this bedroom to create a feeling of warmth and restfulness. The three stag heads on the wall and the tartan scarf on the bed give another nod to Highland design, while the sleek wardrobes and industrial-style lamp and light fitting add a modern edge.”

Prestbury Chase is a collection of two, three and four-bedroom homes located in Cheltenham, on the edge of the Cotswolds. To find out more call 01242 801762 or visit bloorhomes.com.
