Parents-to-be choose a family home in Buntingford

Posted 24 August 2016 by Helen Christie

A newly-married couple are set to cap off a whirlwind 12 months by moving into a new home in Buntingford...

Jeff and Fiona Chapman are expecting the birth of their first baby in November.

Using the government’s Help to Buy scheme, the couple have bought a new three-bedroom home for their growing family with just a 5% deposit.

Jeff and Fiona chose a Heather housetype at The Village, off London Road, which is being built by Fairview New HomesJeff, 33, says: “We are really excited to be moving into our new home in Buntingford and have been counting down the days to our August completion.

“Since getting married almost a year ago, our priority has been to find somewhere we can settle down and call our own – and it became top priority when we discovered we were going to become parents.

“Without Help to Buy, we wouldn’t have been able to afford the deposit on a property as lovely as the one we have bought at The Village, so we feel very lucky to be moving into such a high-specification home which we have absolutely fallen in love with.”

The Chapmans, who currently live in Bishop’s Stortford, believe that moving to Buntingford will be the perfect start for family life.

Fiona, 30, says: “I drive past The Village every day on my commute to work, and thought it was an ideal starting point in our search for a new home. When we visited the development, the sales team were absolutely brilliant and explained every detail about the homes for sale, as well as the financial side of things.

“We looked around one of the Fairview showhomes and were blown away by the quality. After that, we knew a Fairview home was the one for us. The personable service we received and the in-depth knowledge the sales staff had about the development was key for us in the buying process.”

Fairview has just opened three new showhomes, which are two, three and four-bedroom designs, at The Village. The development will comprise a mix of two- to four-bedroom homes.

Help to Buy enables purchasers to secure their new home with a 5% deposit and 75% mortgage.

The remaining 20% of the purchase price is provided as an equity loan which is interest-free for five years.
