Housebuilder holds special Help to Buy event today in Poundbury

CG Fry & Co is hosting a special event today (20 September 2016) at its new homes development in Poundbury, Dorset, where it is providing information on the government-backed Help to Buy scheme to house-hunters in the area.
The event, which is taking place at the housebuilder’s sales centre on the scheme between 4.00pm and 6.00pm this evening, gives buyers the chance to look at details of the properties on offer and learn all about the Help to Buy scheme, which is open to all homebuyers (not just first-time buyers) on properties priced up to £600,000. There will also be a mortgage advisor there with information about the best home loans to suit purchasers at the development.
The latest figures from the government show that over 81,000 new home sales were completed with the shared equity part of the Help to buy scheme in the first three years since its launch in spring 2013.
Poundbury is located on the edge of Dorchester and has been developed as a special village on land owned by the Duchy of Cornwall, with HRH Prince Charles taking a special interest in the principles of its design and growth over the past 20 years or so. In all, some 2,500 new homes were intended for the site, with a number of flagship schemes being constructed there.
Caroline Hill, sales and marketing director for CG Fry & Son, says: “Prospective buyers now have a wide range of options to help them get onto the property ladder. The popularity of the Help to Buy scheme, coupled with recently lowered interest rates, makes it a great time for first-time buyers to purchase a new home.
“The cost of renting has rocketed over the last year, while mortgage rates are at a record low. Many are finding that it makes financial sense to buy a new home rather than put more money into renting and ultimately paying for a landlord’s mortgage instead of their own.
“The Poundbury site is the only place to buy new homes this side of Christmas in Dorchester, so we know that a lot of people looking to see in a new year in a new home will be very interested in attending our Help to Buy event.
“We have had a high number of enquiries at the site from families and first-time buyers looking to take advantage of the Help to Buy scheme, and we are looking forward to welcoming more prospective buyers to our event, where we can discuss the best option to help them buy a new home.”
CG Fry’s development at Poundbury comprises a mix of two- to four-bedroom homes, with prices starting from £297,000.
