Help to Buy enables first-time buyers to move into Worthing home

Ben SalisburyA Worthing couple have taken their first steps on the property ladder at Bloor Homes’ Yeoman Chase development thanks to the Government’s Help to Buy scheme.
Tim Davey, 34, and Lee Pavitt, 36, bought their first home together at Yeoman Chase, off Littlehampton Road, after tiring of seeing their hard-earned cash being swallowed up by the rent.
The couple, who both work as cabin crew, made the move across Worthing to their new three-bedroom home, which features an open plan kitchen/dining area, handy utility room and stylish master bedroom, with en-suite.
Tim said: “We were previously renting in west Worthing but the cost and living expenses were getting too much and we thought it would be best to invest in a new home. We had been to a few other developments in the area before we came to Yeoman Chase.
“We just fell in love with the development, we had a really warm welcome as soon as we came here and we just kept coming back.
“It’s the first property we have purchased together and Bloor were so good at explaining the Help to Buy scheme that moving just made sense. We would have never been able to move into such a lovely home without it.
“We love entertaining and we’ve made friends with at least seven neighbours, so since we moved we have had a fair few dinner parties. Our home’s open kitchen/ dining area is the perfect place to host.”
The government’s Help to Buy equity loan scheme has so far helped over 91,000 buyers to purchase a new home, and has proved particularly popular with first-time buyers.
The scheme enables buyers to secure a new home with just a 5% deposit and 75% mortgage. The remaining 20% is provided as an equity loan which remains interest free for five years.
A range of three bedroom homes are currently available at Yeoman Chase, priced from £315,000.
