First Time Buyer Home Show moves to Croydon this weekend

Posted 11 April 2016 by Keith Osborne

An event especially for first-time buyers looking for new homes in and around London re-locates to Croydon for the first time on Saturday 16 April...

With affordability such a big issue for many first-time buyers – especially in London and the South East, where even modest properties are many times greater than average earnings – a property exhibition aimed specifically at those trying to get onto the first rung of the property ladder come to Croydon on Saturday 16 April.

The organisers of the established First Time Buyer Home Show are hosting this spring’s show at the Fairfield Halls in Croydon from 10.00am to 4.00pm, with a host of housebuilders and housing providers, together with finance and legal experts, are ready to meet them with details of affordable new homes in and around the capital.

Government-backed schemes such as Help to Buy and Shared Ownership will be high on the agenda as affordable ways for young people to make their dream of homeownership come true. Among the confirmed exhibitors are Which? Mortgage Advisors, Experian, Centra Living, Help to Buy London, Direction Law, Affinity Sutton, Site Sales, Catalyst Housing, PCS Legal, PLS Solicitors, Amicus Horizon and Moat Homes.

The event is free to attend – something which around 2,000 house-hunters did at the last show in October.

Lynda Clark, editor of First Time Buyer magazine and organiser of the show, says: “We are really looking forward to holding our first Home Show in Croydon this April. There is such an excitement about this really up-and-coming part of London which as well as being a great place to live, has got such a bright future. Besides being extremely well-connected, Croydon’s current investment plans mean that its house prices still have some way to rise, providing the perfect opportunity for those who have been priced out of London to get onto the housing ladder.”

Local MP Gavin Barwell will be speaking at the event and discussing the ways he is making home ownership one of his top priorities in Croydon, and there is a roster of presentations and seminars for buyers to attend, looking at different aspects of purchasing a first home.

The show is headline sponsored by Inspired Homes, one of the busiest housing providers in Croydon right now, as well as a number of other sites in Greater London. The new homes it is providing around Croydon complement a massive investment in regeneration of the town, including the upcoming Westfield shopping centre, new offices and hotels and a new theatre. Many other developers are also providing a range of new homes, with Croydon’s superb transport links a big draw for many City workers unable to buy in the centre of the city.

Clark adds: “The First Time Buyer Home Show has been running successfully for over six years now and our first show in Croydon is set to be one of our biggest yet. In addition to providing useful and practical information about the affordable side of getting onto the housing ladder, there will also be a wide range of suitable properties available to view – all ideal first homes.”
