David Wilson Homes development in Surrey awarded top Built for Life 12 standard

Keith OsborneLeithfield Park, David Wilson Homes’ flagship development in the village of Milford, Surrey, has achieved the very highest marks in a government-endorsed quality scheme, as it was named ‘Outstandinging’ in the Built for Life 12 (BFL12) standards.
The development of about 100 properties, located on a former hospital site, is one of just a handful of new homes schemes in the UK to have been given that status by Design Council Cabe, which assessed it for the attractive, functional and sustainable elements of its design.
With a mix of individually designed two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes, particular attention was given to the composition of materials used at Leithfield Park, utilising brick, tiles and timber cladding to provide unique property types and street scenes. Thirty-six of the homes are deemed ‘affordable’ alongside the open-market private-sale properties. As part of the project, some of the old hospital buildings were also retained and refurbished to complement the new build units.
