Local area

Taunton is a historic town with over a thousand years of religious and military history, including a 10th-century monastery. Taunton Castle is one of the biggest tourist attractions here, and is believed to date back to the Anglo Saxon period. Today, the Castle is home to the Somerset Military Museum and the Museum of Somerset, which had a ??7 million refurbishment in 2011.

Taunton is a great combination of old and new. The town is undergoing several redevelopments, which promise to modernise Taunton and bring in new cultural, retail and business opportunities. Currently, there are three shopping centres, as well as a main shopping strip with supermarkets, major banks, a library and post office.
The town is also known for its community events held throughout the year, such as the West Country Carnival and the Taunton Flower Show. Often considered as the birthplace of cider, Taunton is also home to the Somerset Country Cricket Club's County Ground.

There are convenient transport links to Taunton ' extensive bus routes connect the local towns and villages of Bishop's Hull, Priorswood, Wellington, Sherford and Stoke St Mary. The Taunton train station, less than a mile away from the development, and runs regular services to Exeter, Plymouth, Penzance, Cardiff, Manchester and London Paddington.
