Wyatt Homes offers Surrey family perfect rural lifestyle at Somerset’s newest village

Posted 9 August 2016 by Helen Christie

It was while holidaying in the South West that Pamela and Gordon Crawford fell in love with the West Country area...

After Pamela was unwell last year, the young couple from Surrey were prompted to put ‘things in perspective’ and seek a better lifestyle for themselves and their young family.

The Crawfords viewed a number of new developments in Sherborne and the surrounding area, but it was not until they came across the distinctive Brimsmore scheme - on the northern edge of Yeovil, one of the latest being built by award-winning Wyatt Homes that they knew they had found their perfect home.

Pamela Crawford comments: “We wanted our son Hudson to grow up in more rural surroundings with plenty of space outdoors and indoors and, by buying the Canford house at Brimsmore with five spacious bedrooms, we knew we would have lots of room - including space for a playroom as well as having a good sized garden.” The Canford is an attractive detached family home on three levels with a garage and lengthy drive. The ground floor features a large open-plan kitchen/dining area with separate utility and a generously sized dual aspect sitting room with feature fireplace and wood burning stove, both have French doors leading to the rear garden which is laid to lawn.

On the first floor is the master bedroom with en suite, two further bedrooms and a family bathroom. The second floor has two spacious bedrooms complete with fitted wardrobes and a separate shower room.

“We also liked the idea of having woodland, playgrounds and cycle paths almost on our doorstep, which Hudson will really enjoy.  Plus, we have a dog and two cats and the Canford is so much better for them than a small house in Surrey!” The couple have also been able to make the move with considerable ease as Gordon has his own online toy-shop business, and Pamela works for a large supermarket and was given a transfer to Sherborne.

The Crawfords chose Brimsmore - not just because it offered them more house for their money, but it also provides a perfect place from which their son can go to school in nearby Sherborne.  It is within easy reach of cities such as Bath, Bristol and Exeter, yet will allow the family to enjoy the pleasures of living in a more rural community, something they both very much wanted. Pamela continues: “What you can get for your money here in the South West is much better than in Surrey and we really feel now that we can make roots here for life.”

The couple are particularly impressed by the quality of the Wyatt Homes build at Brimsmore, which they firmly believe to be above and beyond anything else they have seen in other new developments. Renowned for producing quality homes across Somerset, Dorset and Hampshire Wyatt Homes has made sure that Brimsmore is no exception.

“We looked at a lot of new homes in the Sherborne area and found them all to be very small.  A great deal of thought and attention to detail has gone into every aspect of the build and interior design at Brimsmore.  The Wyatt Homes’ construction and finish is so much better and we love all the lifestyle additions such as the high quality sash windows in keeping with the period design of the properties, the dual aspect living room and the log burner in the sitting room already installed in the fireplace which other developers would have left empty or added as an extra. Small things like the TV sockets halfway up the wall, so that they remain hidden by the TV with no wires showing, showed us the level of thought and extent of the attention to detail Wyatt Homes goes to.  Even the spacing between the houses and their garages has been carefully considered so that residents do not feel ‘on top of each other’ in Brimsmore.”

The philosophy behind this impressive development is to offer something different by creating an exclusive neighbourhood, which is not only easily accessible for new Brimsmore residents but also for those already living in the surrounding residential areas. As part of these plans to form a real community around a village square, there will be facilities such as a doctors’ surgery, primary school and childrens’ nursery, with additional provision made for a care home and sheltered housing. Other amenities are likely to include a supermarket and selection of retail outlets; a coffee shop and family restaurant/bar; and attractive open spaces, with an area of new woodland planting as well as a natural pond, sports pitches and a childrens’ play area.  As in any community with its span of ages and requirements, the homes will be in a mixture of styles, sizes and tenures to suit everyone - from first-time buyers, to families with young children and those entering retirement.

The Crawfords are excited about their future in this wonderful community near Yeovil and each step towards moving into their new Brimsmore home has been straightforward and uncomplicated: “Every stage of the buying process has been exceptional and so much better than we have ever experienced before in other new housing developments!”

Prices at Brimsmore start at just £299,000. For more information or to view the show home please contact the Sales and Marketing Suite, open every day 10am – 5pm on 01935 412628 or visit: http://www.wyatthomes.co.uk
