Wrong turn leads to right house

Posted 30 March 2017 by Ben Salisbury

Taking the wrong turn led to a right result for a couple searching for a family home in a rural location when they stumbled on Bovis Homes' Letcombe Fields...

Patricia Rodrigues and Ricardo Goncalves have lived all over the world, but the care and attention they received from an Oxfordshire housebuilder was above and beyond anything they had previously experienced.

Currently renting in Oxford city centre, Ricardo, a programme manager at the University of Oxford and Patricia, a children’s nurse at the Oxford University Trust, were looking to move to a more rural location with a close-knit community. The couple moved to the UK from Portugal and were looking for a new home to bring up their two children, Salvador, 9 and Martin, 2.

While they were on a trip to visit Wantage, the family took a wrong turn, and found themselves at the site of Bovis Homes' Letcombe Fields.

“We turned right, then left and then we saw Bovis Homes. It looked like a nice site in a good location so we scheduled a visit with the sales advisor, Gary, for the following weekend,” says Ricardo. “We had a look around the site and found out more about the town. Gary was so helpful – he told us everything we needed to know."

Looking for a spacious three-bedroom home, the couple chose the Albemarle house type.  With a large, open plan kitchen and dining area, a separate sitting room and a built-in wardrobe and en-suite to the master bedroom, the house was just what the family were looking for.

“For us, it was also in the best location on the development. The layout was perfect for us and we liked that there was a separate sitting room. It had a good flow and the rooms were well-sized,” says Ricardo. “It was just right, so we put our reservation fee down straight away.

“It then all seemed to happen so quickly. Gary was amazing and took care of everything – he put us in touch with the mortgage advisors and the whole process was so smooth and simple.”

The family moved into their new Wantage home at the end of the summer and quickly settled in.

“The quality of the home is excellent and we are really happy with it,” says Ricardo. “It is absolutely huge, but if we wanted to extend and add an extra bedroom in the future, it has potential to do that.

“What really stood out for us were the people - everyone all really cared and did everything they could to help us and were friendly and supportive,” says Ricardo. “I’ve lived all over the world, but what I experienced with Bovis Homes was really impressive. I don’t easily trust many people, but Gary was really trustworthy and we are so pleased with our home.”
