Woodlands delivers wow factor for Northwood couple

Henry and Lorraine Manners recently moved in to a new flat at Kebbell Homes’ popular Woodlands development in Northwood, following a search for the perfect home to retire in.

Originally from Eastcote, the couple wanted to find a home that met their needs for the next phase of their life. With grown up children who have now flown the nest, Henry, 63, and Lorraine, 62, didn’t require a home as large as their previous property, however they were certain they didn’t want to compromise on style or space.

Henry, who works in sales for a computer software company said, “Even though our children have grown up and moved out, we weren’t looking to downsize as such. We like to see it as finding a home that was the right size – a practical home that would work for us now and in the future.

“Our previous home was a detached four double bedroom house. We didn’t need that amount of bedrooms or want as large a property to maintain, but we still wanted to feel as though we had room for family and friends to visit.”

Mr and Mrs Manners moved in to a spacious two bedroom apartment at the Woodlands development on Ducks Hill road, Northwood in early April this year.

“When we viewed the apartment at Woodlands, we were blown away. Even though it is essentially a flat, it doesn’t feel like that and it really delivers the wow-factor. We have our own front door that leads into the house, rather than a communal hallway and our own garage and garden.

“We really appreciate that the reception rooms are separate. It’s common with apartments to find open plan living which is something we weren’t looking for. The fact that this property has two levels with a staircase definitely makes it feel more like a house.”

With family living close by, Mr and Mrs Manners knew they didn’t want to move out of the area.

“We lived in Eastcote before the move and we wanted to stay local to the area”, said Henry. “It has been fantastic to find our ideal home, just a few miles from where we were originally, meaning that our lifestyle remains the same and we are still close to our children their families.”

Henry adds: “It was always going to be a bit of an emotional wrench leaving the home that we raised our family in, but Kebbell has been a really fantastic company to lead us through the process.
