A two-year investment provides couple with retirement fund

Posted 13 April 2017 by Ben Salisbury

A couple used a sale and leaseback scheme on a David Wilson Homes property at Locksbridge Park in Andover to help build their retirement fund

A semi-retired couple from Whitchurch in Hampshire has been able to plan for their retirement after making a smart investment with David Wilson Homes’ Sale and Leaseback scheme.

Colin and Rosemarie Adams decided to invest in a three bedroom show home at David Wilson Homes’ Andover development Locksbridge Park, and earned money whilst renting it back to the developer to use as a show home to plan for their retirement.

This allowed the first time investors to save for their future and now that the 30 month agreement is over, they plan to use the money earned to buy a new property to live in.

Colin, 65, and Rosemarie, 69, secured a 5% rental yield on their £230,000 home, making them a profit of roughly £950 a month for the duration of the lease.

Colin said: “We were looking to make an investment when we came across this scheme as property is something we had never thought about putting our money into before.

“We were attracted to Sale and Leaseback because we knew it offered a good rate of return and David Wilson Homes has a good reputation for being a quality housebuilder.

“The whole process was straight forward and stress free and has allowed us to earn extra money without having to do anything.

“The sales staff at David Wilson Homes were extremely helpful through the whole process of the investment and explained to us how it worked so we would definitely consider doing this again.”

Colin works as a part time Medical Information Officer and Rosemarie is now retired, so this scheme was a great way for them to earn extra money on the side.

David Wilson Homes offer up to a 6% rental yield for a contemporary and spacious home that comes with a 10 year NHBC Buildmark Warranty. The property even includes numerous extras as part of the deal.

Neil Douglas, Sales Manager at David Wilson Homes Southern, said: “This hassle-free scheme offers great value for people like Colin and Rosemarie who are looking to put their money into property.

“It comes with minimal risk as we guarantee they will have a tenant for the full duration of the lease, and people can easily make a decent profit in return.

“Rather than having to worry about untidy tenants or any problems that may usually occur when renting out a home, the investor has the assurance that we will maintain the property in pristine condition.”

Locksbridge Park, located on Locksbridge Road, currently has a selection of four bedroom homes available to buy with prices starting from £350,000.

The exciting development, located in the highly sought after village of Picket Piece, boasts a selection of beautiful semi-rural homes with stunning views over open fields and has been extremely popular with a range of homebuyers so far.
