RAF family flying high with Barratt Homes

Posted 4 May 2017 by Helen Christie

An RAF Sergeant has purchased his new dream home with Help to Buy at Oakfield Village…

Henry Smart (37), his wife, Michelle (36), their children Chloe and Logan, and dog, Brutus were previously based within Buckinghamshire however, the Help to Buy scheme has allowed them to move into a home of their own with more space for their children.

Henry says: “We drove through Aylesbury regularly and were pleased to hear about the new homes at Kingsbrook. We looked at other developments in the area but decided on Kingsbrook as the finish seemed better, the roads are open and well planned and the landscaping seems in keeping with the area.”

The Kingsbrook development will feature over 250 acres of parks, play areas and green open spaces, many of which are already complete. Oakfield Village is the first village of three at the development and is built on garden city principles.

Henry says: “The large amount of open space on the development is perfect, it’s great for spending time outside with our children and the dog as there’s loads of space to run around in.”

The family are now living happily in their four-bedroom 'Lincoln' style home.

Henry continues: “The layout of the Lincoln is ideal for us, especially with young children and a dog, we need lots of space. The large kitchen makes a great area for the family to get together but we really like that we have a separate living room and dining room. We keep the dining room as an office room so we can have some separate adult space away from kids toys, which is really nice to have”

The family used the government backed Help to Buy scheme, which meant they only needed a 5% deposit to purchase their home with a 20% equity loan from the government.

Henry adds: “Without the scheme we wouldn’t have been able to get the best home for us. We have previously lived in a three-bedroom home and it just didn’t give us enough room. Help to Buy meant we could buy a four-bedroom property with the space we need. Having the spare bedroom is also really handy, we’re quite far away from the rest of our family so now we can see them more often as we have a guest room.”

When asked about the moving process with Barratt Homes, Henry says: “The customer service has been absolutely excellent. There was no leaving us to it after we had moved into our new home. The sales team have been extremely helpful with everything and very friendly. Houses are complex things but any snags we’ve had have been fixed quickly.”

Kingsbrook is an exciting new development which consists of 2,450 new homes in Aylesbury alongside an £81m investment in the local area. Barratt Homes currently has three-bedroom homes for sale at Kingsbrook, with prices starting from £337,500.
