New home sweet home close to the water at Martello Lakes

Posted 10 August 2016 by Helen Christie

For nurses Danielle Godden and Iain Campbell, the opportunity to move closer to home, and take their first steps into the property market, was too good to resist when they discovered Martello Lakes...

The exciting new Barratt Homes development enjoys a sought-after location in Hythe, close to the beautiful Kent coastline and just 13 miles from lively Ashford.

“We chose Martello Lakes because it’s near to where our family live and where I grew up,” says Danielle. “We were renting a home in Maidstone but wanted to move back this way, and buying a new home here allowed us to do just that.

“Our initial thought was that we might not be able to get a mortgage but we fell in love with a three bedroom home here and we knew we could afford it. The team at Barratt Homes has been fantastic, especially Gill and the mortgage adviser, Sam.

“They have been stars, guiding us every step of the way - and now we can’t wait to move in. Martello Lakes has everything we need. It isn’t far from Hythe or Dymchurch - with supermarkets, schools and doctors all within easy reach. And being so close to the seaside and the gorgeous lakes behind the development is amazing.

“The other attraction for us is that new homes are so much more energy-efficient than older properties - so we’re looking forward to the arrival of some lower utility bills.”

Life at Martello Lakes offers an idyllic calm - with some plots offering spectacular views overlooking the coast. The surrounding area is perfect for outdoor pursuits - a relaxing location for those seeking healthy lifestyles.

Natural England’s southern coastal walk will run a route across the development, there is a pleasure lake, and a biodiversity lake is also planned. Several play areas will be located across Martello Lakes - making it the perfect place for families to call home.

“And there are excellent transport links too,” adds Iain. We will both be commuting to work but we aren’t far from the M20, so it will work for us. We’ve just got engaged, so moving to Martello Lakes is the perfect chance for us to make some roots for our family. Everything has worked brilliantly for us here.”
