Family finds its ideal new home in Wales after a 10-year search

Posted 2 October 2015 by Keith Osborne

A family have moved into their dream new build home in Broughton, Flintshire after searching for almost a decade for a suitable property in the village. Andrew and Michelle Ravenscroft had lived in their previous home in the village for nearly two decades but couldn’t find a suitable larger property until they saw Bloor Homes’ Parc Jasmin development show home.

Together with 17-year-old daughter Sophie, the family were impressed with the open design of the development and after visiting the professionally decorated show house, they reserved a four-bedroom detached house using the housebuilder’s Home Exchange scheme to dispose of their old three-bedroom home and ensure the move went through without a hitch.

Michelle says: “We have lived in Broughton for 18 years and we wanted to stay in the village. We had been looking for another property for nearly 10 years on and off and we just couldn’t find anything worth moving into. But when we went to look at the show home at Parc Jasmin it was so lovely.

“The development has got a really nice feel. It’s quite open and it fits in well with the rest of the village. The house is really light and spacious and the quality of the building work is excellent. We have an extra bathroom and a kitchen/diner which really suits our lifestyle.”

The family loves the village and has supported previous development within it despite not finding the right property for their needs until Parc Jasmin was built.

“There has also been a retail park built but because it is at one end of the village it doesn’t feel like it has encroached on the community. We have got the best of both worlds and we have got really good road links to Chester and North Wales.”

Bloor’s Home Exchange scheme played a big part in their move. Under this scheme, the developer makes an offer on a buyer’s current property based on at least two independent valuations. If the offer is accepted, this means the buyer gets a guaranteed sale for their property and is free to move into their new home without having to find a buyer for their old one on the open market. There are no pressures to move out of the old home until the new one is ready and the customer saves thousands of pounds in estate agents’ fees.

Michelle said it also save a lot of day-to-day hassles, with great service from the Bloor Homes team: “It was fantastic for us. It has been 18 years since we moved house and we have never had to sell a property. Because we were looking for something very specific and had set our heart on this house we didn’t want to lose it.

“The home exchange was great. It was hassle-free and the staff have been absolutely fantastic. The week after we moved in the site manager and assistant site manager both called in to make sure we were happy with everything.”

Parc Jasmin is a collection of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes located on land off Chester Road. The development is a 15-minute drive from Chester, and also enjoys superb transport links, with connections to the M53 and M56 close by.

Properties are currently available at the development between £214,995 and £347,995, and there are two show homes for prospective buyers to view.
