Downsizing becomes ‘rightsizing’ for Kathleen at St James’ Gardens

Posted 22 September 2016 by Ben Salisbury

Kathleen Coates and daughter Alison are looking forward to moving into their brand new home at David Wilson Homes’ sought-after St James’ Gardens development in Wick. It ticks all their boxes - particularly when it comes to the perfect amount of space.

The local florist, who owns Pastures Green in nearby Llantwit Major, is looking forward to eventual retirement - and choosing from David Wilson Homes’ new downsizer range made perfect sense.

“This new home is wonderful for us because, while it appears to be downsizing to two bedrooms, each is an excellent sized double with its own en suite,” said Kathleen. “And this provides all the privacy and space we could ask for. I’d call it ‘rightsizing.”

The two bedroom Kedleston house design features a large lounge offering a sense of outdoor living with French doors opening out to the garden. The open-plan kitchen and dining room also creates a real family atmosphere. The first floor includes two well-appointed double bedrooms, each with its own en suite.

“St James’ Gardens is ideal in terms of location too,” added Kathleen. “I lived in Llantwit Major for 40 years, and still work there - so we’re close to family and my business. The position of the development within this beautiful village setting is great too with countryside around us and easy access to local towns, as well as to Cardiff.”

Within the small village of Wick, St James’ Gardens is at the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan. It is an exclusive development featuring a premium range of two, three, four and five bedroom homes with impressive views. Situated six miles from Bridgend town, and eight miles from the M4, this is an ideal location for any lifestyle.

“There is a good bus service, and only a few miles for me to drive to work,” said Kathleen. “I won’t be doing that forever though. I wanted to ‘downsize’ in readiness for my eventual retirement - and everyone at David Wilson Homes has been very helpful, talking us through the whole process.
