City move cuts commute and improves quality of life for Andrews family

Posted 15 February 2017 by Ben Salisbury

The time and cost of commuting led the Andrews' family to buy at Bloor Homes Worsley Fold development in Walkden, a family estate that's ideal for them

Finding a family-friendly neighbourhood was top of the tick list for Tim and Alyson Andrew when they set out looking for a new home close to the city.

The couple, who both work in Salford, had been commuting 60 miles a day from their home in Burnley and were keen to relocate somewhere that didn’t require such a long drive to the office.

But at the same time they were determined that wherever they went, it would be somewhere their three daughters Megan, 18, Lucy, 12, and Emma, 7, would love to call home.

And they found it at Bloor Homes’ Worsley Fold development in Walkden, a collection of two, three and four-bedroom homes located a mere six miles away from their place of work.

Tim said: “Finding a family estate was really important to us. With uprooting the girls, we wanted to make sure they made friends.”

Youngest daughter Emma has become a firm favourite with the sales advisors at Worsley Fold, as every Sunday she bakes cakes and brings them down to the sales office.

“She really took a shine to them and they have been brilliant. We’ve had a great experience”, said Tim.

Bloor Homes’ reputation for quality was also a big factor for the couple, who have much experience of the housebuilding industry through their jobs in waste management.

Tim added: “There are quite a few housebuilders in the area and we looked at them all, but working in the industry and knowing Bloor’s reputation, we kept coming back to the same option.

“This house was considerably better and value for money. We’re very happy here.”

The Andrews bought a four-bedroom detached Orford house type, which is arranged over three storeys and features an open-plan kitchen/diner.

Tim said: “We spend most of our time in the kitchen and dining room area as a family. It’s a really great space.”
