A brand new home fits the bill after a year-long search for Polly Hughes

Posted 20 January 2016 by Keith Osborne

It took months of searching for Polly to find her perfect new home, but the three-bedroom new build she now has at Froyle Park was worth the wait...

The course of true love never did run smooth, said the Bard, and that’s as true for property as it is for people. Finding the ideal new home isn’t always easy, and in the case of Hampshire homebuyer Polly Hughes, it took 12 months and no fewer than 28 viewings before finding her perfect home at Froyle Park.

“I am pretty difficult to please,” says Polly about her marathon effort to find somewhere that would persuade her to say goodbye to her beloved old house in the Hampshire village of Crondall. She was looking to downsize from the large property with a big garden to somewhere suitable, with plenty of character, lots of space and with good amenities on hand.

Polly Hughes at Froyle ParkThe three-bedroom property constructed at Froyle Park by Linden Homes, in the grounds of the refurbished Burnham House, met all those requirements, drawing from traditional local house designs to match the character of the area. However, her decision to buy it came a little unexpectedly to Polly.

“I never dreamed I would buy a new-build property; I have always lived in older properties,” she says. “But this new one at Froyle Park blew my mind. I saw it before it was finished, but I have quite an imagination and I could see what the potential was and what I could do with it.

“It’s beautifully set out for me. It’s about 1,500 square feet and it has a feeling of much more space than that. It’s light and airy – it’s just a lovely, lovely feel. I felt like that even when the concrete was wet.”

Polly, who shares her ‘Franklin’ house with her Tonkinese cat Louis, loves the area’s community spirit and excellent array of shops and facilities. “I know the area very well,” she says, “so I just didn’t want to leave. There’s everything here: Upper Froyle is slap bang in the middle of two very nice market towns – Farnham on one side and Alton on the other.” Polly still volunteers for a neighbour support group in the area and enjoys a great social life with her friends.

Shortly after moving in, she went on holiday, which led to one major glitch – on the way back, she “went into autopilot” and drove from the airport straight to her old house instead of her new one! But she was delighted to arrive back at Froyle Park eventually. “it was so nice coming to somewhere new. The house is of the highest specification and has a wonderful finish, I can’t fault it. The layout is a big bonus – whoever designed this property got it perfect for me and, really, any family could live here.”

Susan Whiting, marketing manager at Linden Homes South, said: “It’s great to hear that Polly is enjoying her new home at Froyle Park. The development has so much to offer and we hope she will be very happy here for many years to come.”

Froyle Park is within easy reach of the A31 and Alton railway station, from where direct services reach London Waterloo in around 70 minutes. Prices range from £435,000 for a three-bedroom semi-detached house, to £1.65m for a five-bedroom detached house. Visit the show home (pictured) daily, from 10.00am to 5.00pm.
